Signs of Mailbox Crimes (Too Close to Home)
The mailboxes at our apartment complex have been broken into many times in the past 3-4 months. About two weeks ago, there were several new signs. Most unwelcome ones, it turns out. One had a photo of the thief and asked you to contact the police if you could help identify the guy (or his car). The other sign explained how the post office could no longer deliver to two-thirds of the boxes, including mine. So, now I can't get my mail because some asshole had been stealing things from all of us. Lovely. But there was a tactical issue here. How can I get to the post office that's only open monday to friday 8:30am-5pm, when I work 9-5 more than half an hour away? I now have to go to work late, or leave early, just to get my mail? That's crazy. I wish people would stop and think about the damage they are doing before they break laws ... however unimportant those laws may seem at the time.
